11/7/2014 ~ Getting ready for Christmas

I know, I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but I just can't help it! Plus I'm trying to get rid of all my fabric, so I'm making gifts for EVERYONE, even people like my obscure coworker's cousin twice removed.

I started listening to Christmas music today and it's been running for about 5 hours now. Which made me want to have a Christmas party, which means I am currently planning it and making Christmas presents at the same time. It's taking all my strength to not decorate my house RIGHT. NOW. I LOVE Christmas!

I bought two pumpkins with the intention of carving them for Halloween, but it's apparently a lot harder to find the time for that when you're an adult. Well it's now past Halloween and I'm stuck with 2 huge pumpkins. So today I spent pretty much all my time baking these pumpkins and pureeing them for pumpkin puree.

Ohhh my goodness I think I'm set for quite a few years. I plan to give my mom some, but I'll probably still have a bunch by the end of the day. Our blender was giving me trouble and wouldn't blend the pumpkins, so I had to do 3/4 cups of pumpkin and 1/4 water. I don't know how that will taste, but it looks okay, so we'll see! I'm bagging them in 1 cup measurements and I'm putting about 4 in a zip lock baggy.

For news on baby, he's growing right on the mark! And yes, he is a boy! I haven't posted in a while, but I am currently 26 weeks along on Sunday and this little guy is as active as ever. Except when I'm watching or I have a camera up to my belly. He's a big stinker. He's also just really big. I'm FINALLY getting comments on my belly! I have waited my whole life to look pregnant and until this week, all I've been getting was "oh you're so tiny!", "are you sure you're pregnant?", "there must be something wrong!" Like gurl really are you actually telling me my baby is going to die because my bump looks too tiny wtf.

I'm also keeping taco bell and pretty much every Mexican restaurant in business. Although recently I've been craving a lot of sweets. It might just be because Halloween though. Chase and I shopped the day after Halloween candy sales and got about $50 worth of candy. (we still aren't very good at being grown ups just so you know)

Speaking of Halloween, if you know me, you know I also LOVE Halloween. I always have to dress up, even now.

I would have made a fancy cosplay or something, but I have a bit of a belly in the way. I decided to just include him in the festivities. I was dressed up as a Telletubbie and had my ultrasound picture as my belly TV. Chase was a party pooper and dressed up as a "movie extra". AKA he didn't dress up.

I've finally figured out how to crochet, and have found the wonderful world of quilting. So I've been on a rampage finding ideas and patterns to use. I don't know why I didn't figure it out sooner. This is amazing!

Chase apparently has nothing going on in his life, because he continues to stare intently at the screen while killing dragons and bears on Skyrim whenever I ask him what he's up to.

6/16/2014~Two Months Later with an announcement

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip Toe if you must, but take the step."

Remember how I said exciting things don't always happen to me? Well I lied. My life is about to get quite a bit more interesting than I initially thought.

My husband and I planned on waiting about 5 years to have kids. We'd get our degrees finished up, get stable jobs and maybe travel a little bit. We'd enjoy ourselves and get to know each other more and we'd set up our roots. I would start a blog about fashion and pop culture and he would become an engineer. And THEN we'd think about having kids.

Oops.

Well that plan has been a little switched up. We are 2 months into our marriage and we have a little surprise.

We're having a baby! Due date is February 15th, 2015 and we are SO excited!

5/10/2014~One Month Later

"Be thankful for the bad things in life.
They make you thankful for the good things you couldn't see before."

It's been a month since I posted and next Sunday, it will be a month since I got married. I suppose I should make a real blog post introducing myself. (even though this is mainly a family blog)

I am Evelyn Whitmer. I am 19 years old, I'm Mormon and I just got married to the love of my life for time and all eternity. I am a Starbucks Barista, but I'm working on making my own business. I love to craft and I love anything pop culture. I'll craft anything, but my favorite things to make are costumes and re-fashioning old clothes. I am a thrift-a-holic and I am not even joking when I say that I have a couple of HUGE trash bags full of unfinished sewing projects. Moving in takes a lot longer than I originally thought though.

I'm really a very simple person though. I have a small list of comfort food, I would rather play video games or read a book than go to a party and I cringe at any price tag over $25. (unless it's a good item) Exciting things rarely happen to me. When they do though, I like to write about them. But mostly my life is filled with cuddling, playing video games or eating. While it may not be very interesting to you, this is my perfectly imperfect life as a Whitmer Woman.

4/10/2014~One Week Left

"I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart." -Vincent Van Gogh

I figure since I'm about to start being an adult for real, I should start a blog to keep my family updated. Nothing much yet, but I'll get there eventually.
